»Laser-Textured Surfaces for Enhanced Material Biocompatibility (LTS4EB)«
Abstract:
The LTS4EB project aims to make science more accessible and engaging for the public, leveraging citizen science to advance research and inspire people of all ages—from students to professionals across various fields. The project builds on advancements in biomaterials, using laser technology from the SurfBioApps (ARIS Project) initiative to modify metal surfaces. SurfBioApps brings together experts in materials science, chemistry, biology and medicine. The project focuses on laser surface texturing, a cutting-edge technique that enhances surface properties and biofunctionality with precision, flexibility, and compatibility—without altering bulk properties or relying on chemical additives.
LTS4EB Citizen Science Program Objectives:
- Engage the public in scientific research by involving them in data collection and analysis of laser-textured surfaces.
- Raise awareness of how surface engineering influences biocompatibility.
- Contribute to scientific progress by generating data on the interaction of laser-textured surfaces with biological environments.
