Travel
by airplane
Participants arriving by airplane are strongly advised to book
their final destination to Ljubljana Airport at Brnik. This airport
is connected by frequent flights to all major European airports.
Brnik airport is 20 km away from Ljubljana city center and
can be reached by busses running at the time intervals of one
hour. Bus stop is at the front gate of the airport and its final
stop is at the Ljubljana main railway and bus station (these two
are together). The bus drive takes about 45 minutes. Tickets are
obtained at the driver and have to be paid in the local currency
Slovenian tolars (SIT- ).
So, do not forget to change (Exchange Rate-
)
some money already at the airport. Arriving to Ljubljana city,
travel to Bernardin/Portoroz may be continued by bus directly
to Portoroz or by train to Koper, where a local bus to Portoroz
should be taken. Another option of air transportation is to fly
to the Trieste Airport at Ronchi. Ronchi airport is 80 km away
from the Conference site in Bernardin, where the border from Italy
to Slovenia has to be crossed. The ground transportation from
Ronchi (Italy) to Portoroz (Slovenia) is very infrequent and on
Saturdays and Sundays, there is no bus connection at all.
This makes arrival to Ronchi less attractive, as the only remaining
ground transport is to take a taxi. The Organizing Committee will
not provide any transport from or to the Ronchi Airport
(as it is in another state), so that arrival to Ljubljana airport
should be preferred. |
Shuttle
On
Tuesday September 28, 2004, a shuttle transportation will be

2004.

(150 km) is 50 EUR (one way).
Please inform us at info@jvc10.si if you want to use the shuttle transportation.

By bus
Busses
connect Ljubljana to Portoroz daily at time intervals of one to
two hours. The time table can be obtained . Busses start
from the Ljubljana main bus station and the final bus station
is Portoroz. The drive takes about three hours. When arriving
to the Portoroz bus station (located in Lucija), you are still
relatively far from the Bernardin Conference center (see ), not within a short walking
distance. At the Portoroz station, the travel should be continued
by the local bus connecting Lucija and Piran (bus no. 3).
The most convenient exit station for Bernardin is indicated on
the (this station is located
on a hill). The drive with the local bus will not take more than
about 15 minutes (the bus stops frequently at short distances).

By car
Traveling
by car to Portoroz, the highway from Ljubljana towards the Adriatic
Sea should be taken (see ). The highway bypasses the cities
of Vrhnika, Logatec, Postojna and Kozina. The highway ends at
Kozina and you are still about 30 km from Koper, which is the
next destination. Once in Koper, continue to Portoroz (14 km)
and finally Bernardin (map ). Bernardin Conference center
owns a large parking place (free of charge) uphill behind the
Grand Hotel Emona. Kindly note that the highway is not free
of charge, the pay toll is about 900 SIT (about 4
Eur). |
