CONFERENCE PAPERS

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS
Deadline: September 29, 2004

Conference papers of the JVC-10 will be published in a special issue of the journal "VACUUM" after being refereed according to the journal requirements.

Participants of the Conference are invited to submit their original papers prepared according to "Guide to Authors" of "Vacuum" (http://authors.elsevier.com/). The papers should be submitted in triplicate and will undergo a refereeing procedure. Deadline for submission is September 29, 2004 at the registration desk at the Conference.

Instructions for manuscript preparation

Maximum size for contributed papers are 4 print pages (2500 words), and for invited papers 6 print pages (4000 words).

Normally 4 print pages correspond to about 2500 words. A regular diagram or table is equivalent to 150 words (300 if a diagram has fine details and has to be placed over both columns of a two-column layout of a printed page in Vacuum). As an example, a contributed paper should not exceed 2200 words plus 2 diagrams. The editors have rights to reject contributions that exceed allowable extent.

Two experts in the field will carefully referee each paper with high demands on the quality of the paper. Papers in bad English will be rejected irrespective of their content.

Please follow these instructions:

1. In general, each manuscript should include:
   • First page: Article title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), Abstract, PACS codes and keywords
   • Main text (in good English, double line spacing and wide margins, on numbered sheets)
   • Acknowledgements
   • Appendices
   • References
   • Figure captions
   • Tables (each table on a separate sheet)
   • Diagrams and figures (one master, two copies) It is very important that the pictures are originals of very good quality. Very often, the quality of Xerox copies and computer printouts is insufficient for printing purposes.
   
   
2. Prepare the following front page accompanying your manuscript containing information in this order:
   • Title of the article, Author(s), Affiliation(s)
   • Full address, e-mail address, telephone and fax number of the corresponding author
   • Full address and e-mail address of the author to whom the page proofs are to be sent.
   
   
3. Bring your paper (1 original plus 2 copies) to the conference secretary (registration desk) at the conference site by September 29, 2004, or send it before the conference to the following address (Electronic submission is not accepted!):

Do not submit a floppy disk or CD at this stage. Only, when your paper has been accepted, you have to send a floppy disk or CD containing the written items.
