Laboratory of Process Metallurgy

Head of Laboratory:
dr. Franc Tehovnik
tel: 01/4701 969

Activities

For the research and development of new metallic materials the following synthesis and characterization techniques are employed and used: casting, water atomization, mechanical alloying, consolidation of metallic powders (compression and sintering), hot rolling, cold rolling, drawing, microstructure and properties characterization, including chemical composition, mechanical and tribological properties, corrosion resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, creep resistance, etc. The objective of the laboratory is to obtain and master new knowledge and findings in the field of the thermodynamics and kinetics of metallurgical processes, in both the solid and liquid states, and on different levels: macro, micro and nano.
